Welcome to Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge

Serving Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles

Volunteers of America was founded nationally in 1896 with a promise "To go wherever we are needed and do whatever comes to hand" in the service of God and humanity.

On these founding values our organization has grown to be one of the largest, most diversified, and most effective faith-based charities in America, particularly in South Louisiana. We serve a 19 parish area by giving shelter to abused and neglected children and youth, support to families, comfort to the elderly and hope to individuals with disabilities.

Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge served over 15,000 people within the last year with the support of over one thousand volunteers. We don't hand out band-aids, we find solutions.

Volunteers Honored for Outstanding Service

Volunteers of America Volunteers Receive Power of 9 Award
Jack and Donna Britt
On January 28, volunteers Jack Lemerond, Jessica Burroughs, and the River Road Chapter of National Charity League were recognized at the Power of 9 Honors Luncheon for their outstanding volunteer work with Volunteers of America.

Jack Lemerond and Jessica Burroughs receive support from Volunteers of America's programs for adults with disabilities, but they give back to the community by coaching the MudBugs, an inclusive t-ball team sponsored by Volunteers of America.
Jack and Jessica enjoy helping the children learn to play the game while having fun and also get the opportunity to exercise their leadership skills.

ExxonMobil EmployeesThe River Road Chapter of National Charity League is comprised of more than 200 mothers and daughters, ranging in age from 7th to 12th grades.  Volunteers of America is fortunate to be one of the many agencies this group serves.  Among other projects, NCL members provide brown bag meals for our elderly residents at Oak Park Plaza, make learning games and activities for preschoolers at our Partnerships in Child Care programs, and host recreational events at Parker House.
